Warren Agin Misses WWM

Warren Agin took special pains to point out that the blog has been somewhat light this year, notwithstanding the fact that he has failed to show up and do his share. I will leave Warren to consider what might happen if a great number of people took the time to observe a randomly chosen IP address such as 216.xxx.40.244. . .

Internet Governance

We decided to try a new method to cover an issue that clearly touches on multiple disciplines (in our multi-disciplinary committee) -- The continuing hot topic of Internet governance. The group is currently working to find a theme that ABA and Cyberspace can contribute to the already busy space in this area.

Two of our members (at least!) attended the recent WSIS meeting in Tunisia, and we heard some of their reporting on the event. The bulk of the discussion centered on what the Tunis meeting left us to figure out, which is the agreed upon international forum.

Model Web Site Continues to Develop

The Working Group on Electronic Contracting Practices has become the focus point for the continuing development of the Model Web Site -- Cyberspace's very successful publication meant for practitioners assisting clients who are setting up eCommerce operations within a corporate environment. Internet Bar Organization

CLC member and long-time friend Jeff Aresty, who sends his regrets on not joining us here in Delaware, wants to remind us of his new venture the Internet Bar Association Organization. Our own Vince Polley is involved with this group, which is primarily concerned with the use of the Internet as a tool to practice law. Jeff has provided us with an overview document about the group.

UPDATE December 17, 2009: We understand the name of the group was later changed to Internet Bar Organization, and you can learn more about it at http://www.internetbar.org/. We of course take no position on the comment below or its origins, but are happy to pass it along per request of the commenter. Any questions regarding the comment should be taken up directly with the commenter.

Senator Carper's Data Security Bill

Sen. Carper, who will be speaking with us on Friday evening, is co-sponsoring S. 2169, the Financial Data Protection Act of 2005. It is almost certain that this bill will be one of his topics this evening, so a bit of homework on the bill would probably be in order...
