The Committee dinner tonight at Il Fornaio (520 Cowper Street, 650-853-3888; map) is sold-out. You'll note that the restaurant also is about a 30 minute walk from the hotel. Those of you not going to Il Fornaio might want to check out one of my two all-time favorite area restaurants, MacArthur Park (650-321-9990), which is beside the train station behind the hotel, and all of 150 yards away.
